Halloween originates from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. People believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred. They would wear costumes and light bonfires to ward off ghosts. Later, with the spread of Christianity, November 1st was named All Saints' Day, and the night before became known as All Hallows' Eve, eventually evolving into Halloween.
